The most sustainable designs work with (not against) nature...

At Sound Watershed, we use inter-disciplinary design teams for most of our design efforts. Such teams typically include hydrologists, geomorphologists, engineers, ecologists and biologists - all working together to develop integrated design solutions that work with nature.

In our experience, the traditional engineer-focused solutions are often less than ideal. Such approaches typically try to suppress or divert natural processes, and often lead to expensive fixes that create other unintended consequences.

By working with nature, we often develop designs that result in improved environmental qualities at reduced costs. By restoring natural functions and processes, we encourage nature to do most of the work.
